Yellow Curtains | Window Treatments

Yellow window curtains impart a classic sensibility. Whether purchased with or without a tie-back, yellow curtains allude to secure, prosperous times, and foster a sense of warmth. When buying a yellow curtain, be sure to check what sort of material they are made out of, what accessories are included, and how well they insulate.

Yellow Polyester Curtains

Style: A classic choice. The majority of yellow window curtains are made from a solid panel of polyester, usually with a cotton lining. These curtains are frequently found in 1960’s period dramas. The yellow can sometimes verge into a ‘gold’ territory.

Accessories: Some polyester yellow window curtains come with valences and tie-backs. Others do not. These accessories have a major impact how the curtains hang. Tie-backs create the most authentic look; yellow curtains that hang without any sort of tie-back will not be as effective in creating a decorative scheme. Valences can create more problems than they solve, as they can complicate the simplicity of the traditional yellow curtain design.

Durability: Polyester yellow window curtains is fairly tough, especially when the curtains have an interior lining. Getting scotch-guarded curtains is an excellent idea, and will keep them from getting stained during parties. As far as ordinary wear and tear goes, these curtains will last for a fairly long time before they need to be repaired.

Insulation: When hung properly and fully extended (without tie-backs) polyester yellow window curtains provide good insulation. If they have an interior cotton lining, they will retain heat far more effectively than if they are a single panel of polyester.

Yellow Cotton Curtains

Style: Cotton yellow window curtains tend to feature more patterns than their solid polyester counterparts. These yellow window treatments are suitable for softer decorative styles.

Accessories: Tie-backs and valences are also an option for cotton yellow window curtains, although in this case cotton versions sometimes benefit stylistically by not incorporating these elements. The tie-back is more functional in this case, and does not necessarily harken back to any stylistic period. The valence may add a finishing decorative statement to the curtains, but is not strictly necessary.

Durability: Cotton yellow window curtains tend to be much lighter, and usually do not include an interior lining. Therefore, they are more prone to tears and stains.

Insulation: Without an interior lining, cotton curtains provide a limited amount of insulation, depending on how closely they are mounted to the glass of the window.
